Learning Skills Series: English is a series of three books written for pre-school pupils, from Nursery to Kindergarten 2, to enhance their basic literacy skills for reading and writing.

The activities in this series are structured to introduce pupils to the letters in the English alphabet and the letter sounds before helping them cross the bridge from recognising ‘sound symbols’ to understanding ‘meanings’. Kindergarten 2 pupils are trained to read for information and to classify words according to meaning. The vocabulary and sentence structures used in the books are based on common English words and phrases heard or spoken at home. This will enhance the child’s ability to make the link between spoken and written words.
