Sparklers: Good Sports The Marathon Runner
In the book The Marathon Runner, Sam writes a series of email letters to his old classmate, Tom. The early letters disclose many grievances about his new life in the country.
It is further complicated by Owen, ‘the meanest kid in the school’, who tries to prevent him enjoying his new hobby of fly-fishing. During the school marathon Owen ambushes Sam, but Sam is able to outsmart him and, to his own surprise, win the race.
